‘Bad Boys’ Rides to Top of U.K., Ireland Box Office
Sony’s “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” debuted atop the U.K. and Ireland box office with £3.8 million ($4.9 million), according to numbers from Comscore.
In second place, in its fourth weekend, Paramount’s “IF” collected £866,474 for a running total of £10.8 million. In third position, in its third weekend, Sony’s “The Garfield Movie” earned £729,503 for a total of £7.3 million.

In fourth place, in its fifth weekend, Disney’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” added a further £620,911 for a total of £14.3 million. Rounding off the top five was Warner Bros.’ “Furiosa,” which collected £436,983 in its third weekend for a total of £5.5 million.
There were two more debuts in the Top 10. Warner Bros.’ “The Watched” bowed in sixth place with £387,339 and Signature Entertainment’s “The Dead Don’t Hurt” in eighth with £95,826.
There are a welter of releases the upcoming weekend, the widest of which is Disney’s animation sequel “Inside Out 2.” Vertigo is opening “Freud’s Last Session,” starring Anthony Hopkins as the famed father of psychoanalysis who debates the existence of God with author C.S. Lewis (Matthew Goode). Also from Vertigo is SXSW title “Arcadian,” headlined by Nicolas Cage, where a father and his twin teenage sons fight to survive in a remote farmhouse at the end of the end of the world.
Icon is bowing “Sasquatch Sunset,” the Sundance-premiering film in which Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg star as Bigfoot-like creatures, while Bulldog is releasing FrightFest-winning horror “The Moor.”
From Filmnation and Bleecker Street comes Berlin and Tribeca title “Treasure,” a father-daughter drama starring Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry. BFI Distribution is debuting family drama “Àma Gloria” that debuted at Cannes and won an award at Thessaloniki.
Curzon is bowing Cannes winner “Hounds,” while Day for Night is opening “Next Sohee” that won accolades at Cannes and Busan. Docslisboa title “Death of a City” is being released by ICA Cinema, while MetFilm and Amazon MGM Studios are opening Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia’s “Federer: Twelve Final Days.” MetFilm is also opening London and Sydney-playing documentary “Wilding,” and Sovereign is releasing Sundance and Sitges-playing fantasy “Sorcery.”
Indian films releasing include Tamil-language “Maharaja,” actor Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film, co-starring Anurag Kashyap, from Ahimsa Entertainment. And Bakrania Media is releasing Bollywood sports drama “Chandu Champion,” starring Kartik Aaryan.
The re-releases this weekend include “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, from Park Circus, Paramount’s 40th anniversary 4K re-issue of “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock,” and the 50th anniversary 4K restoration of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” from Moore International Entertainment.
