BBC Breakfast host laughs at farting guest on airBBC

BBC Breakfast hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt welcomed a hilarious, adorable guest on their sofa yesterday (December 23).

The two presenters couldn't help but giggle when baby Heidi, who was in studio with her parents, farted on air – twice.

"Did she just parp? She just parped!" Munchetty asked as Heidi's mum Bethany sweared she wasn't the culprit.

The host added: "Does she usually wake up like that?"

"I did hear that," Stayt interjected, continuing: "It's a welcome to BBC Breakfast. That's what that was!"

"I'm telling a very emotional story here, please, Heidi – let me get on with it!" Munchetty joked.

But Heidi wasn't quite done and she let another one rip, much to the delight and embarrassment of her parents.

"It's perfect, it's going to be a punctuation throughout this discussion!" Stayt offered, laughing.

Meanwhile, the baby was peacefully resting in her mother's arms, absolutely unfazed by her own bowel burps and the adults' amused reactions.

Heidi's parents James and Bethany Jefferson-Loveday were on the segment to talk about their own sad, heartwarming story.

When James was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, he was told chemotherapy could affect his fertility. Despite this, his wife discovered she was pregnant with "miracle baby" Heidi.

However, at 21 weeks, Bethany, who was 31 at the time, found out she had Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Both Heidi's parents were being treated for their cancer when she was born. Thankfully, they're both in remission now and won't need further treatment.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
