BBC star Clive Myrie has addressed speculation he could be headed to the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor.

The BBC News presenter is among those rumoured to be doing the show this year, with Clive reported to have been offered a slot in previous years.

Speaking on Morning Live yesterday (June 11), Clive was asked about the prospect by presenter Gethin Jones, who said: "Surely you've been asked?"

Nodding towards Strictly dancer Neil Jones, who was in the studio, Clive quipped: "[Neil's] sitting there thinking, 'Have you really got it, Myrie? Have you really got it?'"

Clive then teased: "I don't know. Who knows, maybe one day."

Gethin put Clive forward for a Strictly stint earlier on during a BBC Breakfast live link, as he and co-presenter Helen Skelton previewed what was coming up on Morning Live.

"Clive Myrie tells us about heading to the Caribbean for his new travel series and if busting moves to Jamaican dance hall music has inspired him to consider Strictly,” Helen revealed to BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent and Jon Kay.

Gethin then suggested: “I think out of all of the BBC News readers that I know, Clive has the most rhythm I would say, pretty much, out of everyone I know from BBC News.”

Clive recently fuelled rumours of a Strictly appearance while sharing a clip from his BBC series Clive Myrie's Caribbean Adventure, in which he showed off his moves.
