Behind-the-scenes videos show 'The Bear' stars practicing in the kitchen

Jeremy Allen White and the cast of The Bear rolled up their sleeves and put on their aprons to prepare for the latest season.

Just days after season 3 of the FX series dropped, Courtney Storer, the show’s culinary producer, shared a behind-the-scenes look at how the actors got ready to play the part of chefs.

Nearly all dishes on The Bear are actually made by the actors, which, of course, requires a lot of practice. White has spoken about his experience studying with pro chefs for The Bear’s previous seasons but Storer’s latest post details just how much work goes into the preparation.

In the clip, a knife-wielding White, who plays head chef Carmy, and Lionel Boyce, who plays pastry chef Marcus, carefully watch and mirror culinary pros.

Storer’s clip shows Brian Lockwood, a chef who previously worked at Eleven Madison Park and The French Laundry, and Malcolm Livingston II, a pastry chef and alum at Noma and wd~50. The Bear takes inspiration from some of those kitchens.

With Lockwood by White’s side and Livingston at Boyce’s, the actors practice prepping and plating the high-class meals featured in the new season, which dropped on Hulu on June 26.

White sticks to the savory courses in the clip and is seen rolling out pasta sheets and filling them with cheese and egg yolks before stamping out ravioli. He looks intently at Lockwood’s movements for technical skills, like fileting fish, and even the seemingly-minute details like wiping down a cutting board or pouring out a bottle of wine.

Boyce follows Livingston’s lead while piping intricate designs and making caramel. Just like White, Boyce learns about how a master chef performs baking basics — like cracking and separating eggs.

At the end of the video, viewers get a look at the final dishes served at the fictional fine-dining restaurant, The Bear. Boyce and White carefully plate mousse topped with carefully plucked flowers, spoon foamy sauce onto pasta and use kitchen tweezers to place thinly sliced produce onto a plate.

The actors on The Bear have taken their culinary duties seriously since the start of the show. Ayo Edebiri, who plays Sydney, told PEOPLE that she and White studied with real-life cooks at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) in Pasadena, Calif. The pair spent several weeks, “sunup to sundown, just cooking and learning the basics.”

The techniques Edebiri learned at ICE made it a formative experience for her as an actress. “That was actually incredible,” she said. “Being on your feet for that long, making yourself small in these really tight spaces, just always being on, was pretty invaluable. And yeah, it's very exciting. I was like, I'm an actress that learns a skill for a job. How fun is that?”

The Bear season 3 is available to stream on Hulu.
