BeautyKind, a new charitable online beauty retailer, launching Monday

The American site will allow customers to donate 5% of every purchase to a charitable cause of their choice.

BeautyKind, which launches Monday, November 3, has been founded by Hil Davis and Gina Kohler, who wanted a new high-end retail option that gives something back.

"It's the power of aggregation, from $5 to $10 at a time, that really makes this powerful," Davis told WWD. "We'll have 10,000 causes at first, but within the next three months, we'll have over 1.1 million," he added.

If a customer can't see their favorite cause listed they can add it themselves (with new charities being vetted by BeautyKind). Around 60 brands will be available at launch from Erno Laszlo and Teadora to Nest Fragrances.

Every time shopppers spend they also get their own loyalty points which can be redeemed as extra donations, products, samples or sped-up shipping.

Conscious and charitable trends in the cosmetics world are nascent but growing. One of the original companies to promote the concept, MAC has recently announced the latest edition of its Viva Glam project, fronted this year by Miley Cyrus, which has raised $340 million for HIV and AIDS research over the past two decades.
