Beckenham stabbing: Man, 19, charged with attempted murder after knife attack on train
A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a offensive weapon after a man was stabbed on a train at Beckenham Junction in front of horrified passengers.
Rakeem Thomas is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates court on Saturday (March 30), British Transport Police (BTP) said on Friday.
He has been remanded into custody.
The charge comes after a man was stabbed on a south London train on Wednesday.
Police were called to Beckenham Junction station just before 4pm following reports of a fight on board the train travelling from Shortlands railway station.
Footage posted online showed passengers could be heard screaming for the attacker to stop, and frantically calling 999.
A man in his 20s was in a critical but stable condition following the attack, police said on Thursday.
They said his family was being supported by specialist officers.
