Bell Island woman dies in hospital after house fire: RCMP

A Bell Island woman in her 60s is dead after her house caught fire Sunday night, the RCMP says.

In a press release issued Monday afternoon, the police force said the woman, who hasn't been identified, was found alive inside the burning home.

Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene. An ambulance took the woman to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, the RCMP says.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
