It’s a battle of the Jennifers! Ben Affleck‘s wife, Jennifer Garner, and his former flame, Jennifer Lopez, are both vying for a role in The Stand, a film adaptation of the Stephen King horror novel that Ben is set to direct. Talk about awkward!
“He wants to keep his family life and directing career separate,” an insider tells Star of Ben’s decision. While working together can be challenging for many couples, Ben and Jennifer [Garner] started dating shortly after they co-starred in Daredevil back in 2003!
Though Jennifer claims to be with OK with Ben’s decision not to work together again “because of the kids,” the insider says Jennifer was floored when she found out Ben wanted to hire Jennifer [Lopez]!
“J. Lo has been on the hunt for a new high-profile film project after her turn in What to Expect When You’re Expecting gave her the acting bug again,” the insider reveals. “And Ben wants to assemble a killer cast for this big-budget film. It’s been getting a lot of hype and he can’t ignore her recently revived star power.”
Jealously aside, Jennifer worries that if Ben and J. Lo work together, it will damage his career just like it did when the two co-starred in Gigli. “She fears the ‘Bennifer curse’ rearing its ugly head again,” adds the insider.
