Bernard Kira’s BMK-ENT Rebrands As Apparent Motion Media, Signs ‘Hotel Cocaine’s Fernando Rovzar

EXCLUSIVE: Bernard Kira, the manager and producer behind the nine-year-old shingle BMK-ENT, has rebranded the company as Apparent Motion Media, also announcing his signing of International Emmy winner Fernando Rovzar (Hotel Cocaine).

Kira’s move to rebrand comes as he preps Higher Ground, his third film as a producer, and second for an in-house client. Heading into production in March, the film is based on a script discovered by Apparent Motion client Charlie Weber (How to Get Away with Murder), which was developed internally, before being packaged and sold with Weber headlining. Previously, Kira set up client Erlingur Thoroddsen’s film The Piper, a horror pic poised to hit theaters on March 8.

In a statement on the re-launch of his company, Kira made the observation that “artists are becoming more proactive in generating their own opportunities and controlling the trajectory of their careers.” He added that he “started BMK-ENT with a central philosophy of helping clients create a market, rather than being beholden to it. With Apparent Motion, I am excited to continue to guide each client on that journey of self-fulfillment, and working toward goals that have a bigger picture, where management and production work hand in hand.”

Apparent Motion’s new client Rovzar won an International Emmy for his work on the Mexican HBO series Sr. Ávila. Along with his brother, Billy Rovzar, he runs the Mexico City-based Lemon Studios, which has produced such hit series as Monarca and Control Z. Most recently, Fernando directed on the upcoming Chris Brancato-produced MGM+ series, Hotel Cocaine. He also created Apple’s forthcoming suspense drama Las Azules and is currently making his transition into the U.S. market with English-language series in negotiations at Amazon and Apple.

Other clients of the company, in addition to the aforementioned, include directors Alba Gil (Triada), Batan Silva (The Boys) and Olenka Denysenko (The Blacklist), as well as actors like Jolene Purdy (The White Lotus), Nazneen Contractor (Children Ruin Everything) and Marissa Cuevas (Kung Fu). Apparent Motion founder Kira’s most recent effort as a producer — the thriller Blood for Dust, starring Kit Harington, Scoot McNairy and Josh Lucas — hits theaters this spring.
