This week, the city has been graced with a vast array of new restaurant, pub and bar openings to tickle your every fancy – from obscure Irish stout to a new, hyper-accessible tasting menu. Crispin at Studio Voltaire

The stellar team behind rightfully hyped restaurants Crispin, Bar Crispin and Bistro Freddie are opening a second iteration of the modern, seasonal modern European restaurant within Clapham art space Studio Voltaire – which begs the question: Is Clapham about to get its cool back? By the looks of the menu, it seems so. Roll up for ribbons of fresh lasagnette with broad beans and ricotta, hearty braised lamb, Welsh rarebit topped with anchovy, and brown butter cake with rhubarb and crème fraîche – all dreamt up by Michael Miles.

Good news! We can now justify ordering as much pizza as we like by calling it a ‘pizza tasting menu’, which is what chef Arianna Izzo is serving paired with delicious Campanian wine and cocktails at this new Clapton restaurant and Italian art collective. Ridiculous? Yes. Delicious? Also yes.

Move over, The Devonshire, there’s a new ‘modern Irish’ pub in town. This one won’t be serving Guinness, but Murphy’s, a longstanding Irish competitor of the Diageo-owned stout, as well as live music and wacky cocktails such as the Mexican Bramble with chilli-infused tequila and stout cordial.
