Best superhero costumes
The new Superman costume for "Man of Steel" might have left out some of the details from the comics, but we don't mind at all since Henry Cavill looks good in it (and we mean really good)! However, aside from Superman's new costume sans red undies, throughout the years, there are a lot of other superheroes costumes worn for films based on comic books that are worth a mention!

Superman in "Man Of Steel" (2013)
Superman's original costume from the comics saw him in a light blue spandex complete with a bright red cape, a charismatic coif, and of course, the infamous red underpants. Though it fit his bright heroic personality in the comics, the Superman in "Man Of Steel" wears a darker and grittier version of the costume, minus the red pants.
It might be a little unnerving at first to see the infamous costume being altered, but as the costume fit the darker tones of the film rather well, we're more than happy to say that we are pleased with the new take on the costume. It fits the modern world and compared to the outdated take on the outfit in 2006's "Superman Returns", Zack Snyder's tougher look might just be the best Superman costume to date.
Batman in "Batman" (1989) and "The Dark Knight" (2008)
It was tough choosing which Batman costume was the best, because both versions definitely have their strong and weak points. The comic's original colours of grey, blue and black might have seemed menacing when Batman is drawn but the same cannot be said when you adapt the same thing to a film as it might look cheesy. Adam West's comedic costume in the 1960s TV series is a prime example.
Tim Burton's take on Batman's costume adopted the better features from the original costume like the yellow on the Bat logo, but with more realistic-looking bat ears on the mask. Christopher Nolan's Batman costume is more of a Dark Knight rather than Batman, adjusted for a more contemporary Gotham.
Captain America in "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011)
The costume for Captain America in his 2011 film "Captain America: The First Avenger" was adapted very well compared to the flamboyant style in the comics. The original had a set of wings on his helmet and his whole outfit screamed American patriot. The movie version of Captain America on the other hand, took into consideration that the Captain may need to at least blend in a little in the midst of war. The red, white and blue were considerably toned down to be more realistic.
Spiderman in "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012)
The costume that most accurately portrays the superhero as he looked in the original comics yet manages to make him look even better is Spidey's costume in "The Amazing Spider-Man". Using the same material as the type used for the new Superman costume, the web prints on Spidey's costume makes it uniquely his. The costume from Sam Raimi's 2002 "Spider-Man" had also done the look justice, but Marc Webb's newer modern look looks definitely better now with black details added to it to give it a darker feel.
Iron Man in "Iron Man" (2008)
The costume for Iron Man in the comics is significantly different from his film counterpart. In the comics, the suit is so form-fitting that you can see Iron Man's abs, which, if translated to real life in our times, just looks cheap and comedic. Though Iron Man's comic costume was tough to beat when it came to the uniqueness of its design, the movie adapted it in a way to pay homage to the original but it is now like a humanoid robot with a pilot inside.

Catwoman in "Batman Returns" (1992)
Our favourite version of Catwoman has got to be Michelle Pfeiffer's from Tim Burton's "Batman" sequel, "Batman Returns". Burton's vision can accurately be seen in many of the costumes in his "Batman" films, the most infamous being the stitch-detailed costume for Catwoman. While it still has the sexy skin-tight look like the comics, the film's take on it gave her more personality. The worst Catwoman costume is definitely from Halle Berry's poorly-received "Catwoman" in 2004. Some might even say that Anne Hathaway's Catwoman costume from "The Dark Knight Rises" was worse but really, it really wasn't as bad at Halle Berry's.
The Joker in "The Dark Knight" (2004)
Although Heath Ledger's Joker was said to be a more frightening version compared to Jack Nicholson's Joker in 1989's "Batman", Joker in the comics was equally frightening to look at. Nicholson's Joker may have had a more accurate look, but Ledger's Joker was better in so many ways. His Joker was not only arguably the best comic-book villain with how he was portrayed; his costume was also aesthetically awesome. Like all comic book characters, the Joker in the comics had brighter colours, which Nicholson's Joker followed, but it turned out to be more artsy than menacing. Ledger's Joker wore a tailored suit that is darker and less polished, and you'd end up thinking twice about turning off the lights before you sleep a few nights after you see him.
