Biden campaign fundraises off of De Niro appearance at Trump trial

President Biden’s reelection campaign is doubling down on Robert De Niro’s support — a day after the “Killers of the Flower Moon” star made a surprise appearance at former President Trump’s hush money trial — with a fundraising pitch signed by the Academy Award winner.

In a message Wednesday to Biden supporters signed by De Niro, the 80-year-old actor said, “I still can’t believe Donald Trump got elected president.”

“Thank God Joe Biden defeated him and restored decency, compassion, and honest, intelligent leadership to the presidency,” De Niro said.

“Now Trump is trying to claw his way back. Frankly, it scares the hell out of me,” he added.

Repeating his description of the 45th president as a “monster,” De Niro told Biden backers to “just imagine how dangerous it will be if [Trump] becomes President again.”

“It’s going to take all of us to make sure Donald Trump never returns to the White House,” he said as he made an appeal for at least a $25 donation to Biden’s reelection bid.

The fundraising pitch came a day after De Niro made headlines during a surprise appearance on behalf of the Biden campaign outside the Manhattan courthouse where Trump’s criminal trial was taking place.

In remarks to the press Tuesday, De Niro, one of Trump’s fiercest critics in Hollywood, accused the ex-commander in chief of wanting to “sow total chaos.”

“I don’t mean to scare you. No no, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss away these freedoms that we take for granted, and elections, forget about it. … He will never leave,” he said.

Trump later slammed De Niro in a social media post, calling him “wacko” and saying he suffered from an “incurable case of Trump derangement syndrome.”

De Niro, who last week filmed a campaign ad for Biden, said in the fundraising email, “Over the years, I’ve played my share of vicious, low-life characters.”

Trump, De Niro said, is “a wannabe tough guy with no morals or ethics who will do whatever he can to obtain power. As an actor, I could never play him. There’s not a shred of humanity to hang on to.”

Calling Biden a “lifelong public servant with great personal integrity,” De Niro said, “I trust him completely to run the country. He puts you first.”

Trump, De Niro said, “cares only about himself.”
