Big Boys fans rejoice, as the series has been renewed for season 3.

The acclaimed comedy series, which focuses on the antics of newly out student Jack (Dylan Llewellyn) and his straight best friend Danny (Jon Pointing), returned for its second run earlier this year.

The broadcaster has now revealed that the series, created by Jack Rooke, will be back for more, with the new episodes focusing on the group's final year at Brent Uni.

Season 3 will follow "all the ups and downs of dissertations, deadlines, dating and the devastating departure of Louis Walsh from X-Factor (for Jack anyway!)".

The new episodes will also see Jack's mum Peggy (Camille Coduri) and cousin Shannon (Harriet Webb) "embark on new romances and never-ending nappy changes", while Jack and Danny’s friendship "is tested to its limits as they realise proper adult life is coming".

"Will the boys still choose each other like before, or will this be the end of the road?" the synopsis adds.

"It’s been 10 years since I actually graduated Uni and now yet again I’m returning to my campus with a clapperboard & film crew to recreate the embarrassing endeavours of my youth," Rooke said. "It is just a dream job!

"The response to series 2 has been beautiful and we’re so grateful this show continues to connect with and get discovered by so many weird and wonderful viewers.

"Big Boys is the closest I’ll ever feel to being in a girl band and we’re all desperate to come back like a pack of rabid dogs and put on a sexy, cringey, big funny show for you all!”

The team also teased some of the hilarious antics to come in the third season with a clip from a read-through, where Jack and Danny have a discussion about "bulges".

Season 2 drew huge acclaim, with Digital Spy saying in our five-star review that Big Boys has "cemented itself as one of the best and most important British shows of the last decade".

Big Boys seasons 1-2 are available now on Channel 4, while season 1 is also streaming on Netflix.
