Big Brother winner Nadia Almada has opened up about the possibility of returning to the reality TV show for its revival series on ITV2.

Speaking to Radio Times, Nadia, who won the fifth series of Big Brother back in 2004 becoming the first trans person to do so, said she would love to return to the Big Brother house.

"I would because I think, not only do I love the show and I think it'll be great but I have a different perspective from 20 years ago and I want to show the kids how it's done," she explained.

"I think I would love to go back to the show because I think it would be an honour to go back and also it's recognition for us pioneers - the founders of what is reality TV, this great phenomenon that we respected and embodied 100 per cent with our body, mind and soul for the whole 12 weeks.

"They're having it easy as well," she added of the new series' shorter format. "Because it's only six weeks for them, so I guess it's like a pilot test. For us it was three months, which was the best summer I ever had. I had the best time. I was me. I was real. So would I go back again? Of course I would."

Giving another reason for returning Nadia said she wants to represent the trans community and to provide more visibility in response to the "narrative that's been projected in the trans community and within the LGBTQI+ community".

Previously reflecting on what has changed since her win, Nadia said that trans rights "are almost going backwards" and she feels compelled to speak out.

"I need to speak louder and I need to bang harder on certain doors to remind people what they once saw."

Big Brother will air on ITV2 this autumn.
