There may not be a third season of Big Little Lies, but some of the Monterey Five had their own mini reunion this weekend.

On Sunday, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz were photographed enjoying lunch together in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.

The actresses were all dressed casually as they reunited, with Dern wearing jeans, a blue blouse and a tie and Witherspoon dressed in jeans, a casual black sweater and sunglasses. Kravitz kept a particularly low profile in an all-black outfit with sunglasses and a hat.

After their meal ended, Dern, 56, and Kravitz, 34, left the restaurant together while Witherspoon, 47, drove away separately.

Sunday's lunch date marks the second time in two months that Dern and Kravitz have been publicly spotted out together. In September, the pair joined A-list pal Taylor Swift for dinner at Il Buco Alimentari in New York City.

On the hit HBO series — which premiered in 2017 and was based on Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name — Witherspoon played mother-of-two Madeline Mackenzie, while Kravitz portrayed Bonnie Carlson, the young yogi who married Madeline’s ex-husband Nathan. Dern played the at-times overbearing and ultra-mama bear Renata Klein.

Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley rounded out the Monterey Five as Celeste Wright and Jane Chapman, respectively. Witherspoon, Kidman and Woodley’s characters formed a tight friendship early in the first season, while Kravitz’s Bonnie was more of an outsider and Dern’s Renata was a primary antagonist for the mom trio.

The series concluded after its second season in 2019, and while a majority of the cast expressed interest in continuing the story, an HBO exec said a third installment was “not realistic.”

In December 2021, the show’s director and executive producer Jean-Marc Vallée died suddenly, and the likelihood of continuing the show was scrapped entirely.

Nearly a year later, Kravitz admitted in a GQ interview that the cast had “talked about doing a season 3 a lot,” but said that the “heartbreaking” death of their “incredible director” made that impossible.

“I can't imagine going on without him,” she said. “He really was the visionary for that show. Unfortunately, it's done.”

The Big Little Lies stars have often shown their love and support for one another in the four years since the series concluded. At Kravitz’s wedding to her now ex-husband Karl Glusman, the group of five reunited and the Batman actress posted a sweet photo of the actresses sharing a hug. Dern commented on the since-deleted post that the wedding — which doubled as a reunion — was “the most special day.”

In 2017, Witherspoon, who served as a producer and helped launch the Emmy-winning series, told PEOPLE of the all-star ensemble, “It became this really interesting group of women whose work I’d always loved.”

Getting to work with them every day was a pleasure,” she added. “I learned so much from each of them.”

Kidman also praised her costars as she told News Corp Australia ahead of the show’s finale, “I’m so glad the show has found its way because there really is nothing on TV with six female leads.”

She added, “I don’t know where that show is, so to have the support now has been incredible. It’s never going to be perfect, but by gosh, it’s so great there’s six lead roles for women in one show.”

Witherspoon, Dern and Kravitz’s lunch date comes just two weeks after PEOPLE confirmed that Kravitz is engaged to her boyfriend of two years, Channing Tatum.

Multiple sources told PEOPLE exclusively that the couple recently agreed to say “I do” nearly three years after they were first spotted holding hands in January 2021. Kravitz had split from Glusman in December 2020.

She told GQ last year that Tatum, 43, is “just a wonderful human” and was her “protector” on the set of her directorial debut, Pussy Island.

"He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do," Kravitz said before adding of working together on the film, “We came out even stronger."
