Billie Eilish has largely kept her love life out of the spotlight.

Following low-key romances with rapper Brandon "Q" Adams and actor Matthew Tyler Vorce, the “What Was I Made For?” singer went Instagram official with The Neighbourhood singer Jesse Rutherford in November 2022. The couple’s relationship was a source of controversy due to their 10-year age gap and they eventually split in May 2023.

A few months later, in November, Eilish said that she is also interested in women. “I’m physically attracted to them,” she told Variety. “But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”

In April 2024, Eilish opened up more about her sexuality, saying her song "Lunch" off her album Hit Me Hard and Soft "helped me become who I am."

“I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after," she told Rolling Stone, concluding, "I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life."

Here’s a look back at Billie Eilish’s dating history.

Eilish’s relationship with rapper Brandon Adams (who goes by the stage name 7:AMP) was revealed in her 2021 Apple TV+ documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry.

In the documentary, Eilish shared moments of her relationship with Adams (whom she calls “Q”) as well as its eventual end. One scene in the beginning showed the couple talking on the phone as Eilish said, "I love you and I'm in love with you." Ahead of her Coachella performance, Eilish sang Adams her song “All the Good Girls Go to Hell” to practice the lyrics and he sweetly asked her to style her hair a certain way.

Eilish also revealed tense moments between the pair. After forgetting lyrics on stage at the music festival, the singer was visibly upset and called Adams, asking him to come see her. "What do you mean, 'try?' ” Eilish said before she hung up the phone and threw it on the floor.

Another scene showed the Grammy winner saying that Adams didn’t get her anything for Valentine’s Day. "Haven't gotten anything,” she said when someone asked how the couple celebrated the holiday. “And the night before, he'd been really weird and distant and s---."

By the end of the documentary, Eilish and Adams had split. "I just wasn't happy. I didn't want the same things he wanted and I don't think that's fair for him. I don't think you should be in a relationship super excited about things that the other person couldn't care less about," she said of the breakup.

The Oscar winner continued, "There was just a lack of effort. I was literally like, 'Dude, you don't have enough love to love yourself so you can't love me, dude. And you don't. [laughs] You think you do.' "

In her June 2021 Rolling Stone cover story, the singer reflected on her life after breaking up with Adams and embarking on her When We All Fall Asleep Tour, saying that she was “thriving."

"I felt exactly like who I was,” Eilish said. “Everything around me was exactly how it was supposed to be. I felt like I was getting better. I felt happier than ever. And I tried to continue that."

Eilish sparked relationship rumors with actor Matthew Tyler Vorce in April 2021 when the pair were photographed getting coffee together in California.

Though Eilish and Vorce, who has appeared in horror films such as Mother, May I Sleep with Danger? and Little Monsters, never spoke about their romance while they were dating, the actor confirmed their breakup in May 2022 while denying rumors that he had cheated on her.

"Nobody cheated on anyone,” Vorce wrote in an Instagram Story. “Relationships end. Simple as that. Creating rumors and LYING on the internet is dangerous.”

In a separate Story, Vorce continued, "The fact that thousands of people take time out of their day to write the most heinous things on someone they will never knows post is the most cowardly thing you can possibly do. Live your own life.”

In her 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, Eilish reflected on her relationship with Vorce. "I feel extremely grateful for the relationship I was in last year and I think he's so much happier now which makes me really happy," she said.

Eilish was first linked to The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford in October 2022 when they were spotted on a dinner date. Days later, they were seen kissing outside a restaurant.

In November, Eilish made their relationship Instagram-official by sharing a photo of their Halloween costumes, which poked fun at their 10-year age gap (when they started dating, Eilish was 21 and Rutherford was 31). In the photo, she was dressed as a baby while he was dressed as an old man.

Later that month, the couple made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala wearing coordinated pajama-themed outfits. Eilish also opened up about their relationship for the first time during an interview with Vanity Fair in 2022.

"It's really cool. I'm really excited and I'm really happy about it. Can we just [get a] round of applause for me?" she joked. "Thank you, Jesse Rutherford, everyone."

In December 2022, Rutherford celebrated Eilish’s 21st birthday. The pair attended her Christmas-themed party in matching outfits and took photos leaning in for a kiss in front of balloons. That same month, Eilish’s brother Finneas O’Connell defended his sister amid criticism of her relationship’s age gap.

"I want my sister to be happy and safe," he wrote in a TikTok comment. "She is a 21-year-old adult perfectly entitled to make her own life decisions."

In May 2023, after less than a year of dating, a rep for Eilish revealed to PEOPLE that the couple had broken up. "We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends," they said in a statement. "All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single."

Three months later, a fan asked Eilish about Rutherford in an Instagram Story Q&A. "Very very good friends only," she replied. "My homie forever."

In May 2024, Eilish told Rolling Stone of her ex, "That’s my guy, truly one of my favorite people in the world." Eilish also added that she wasn't interested in dating again "until I find someone that really feels right to me."
