Biopic bid launched for Chinese internet giant Alibaba

The founder of China's Alibaba, the country's richest man Jack Ma, is soon to be profiled in a film about his meteoric rise over the last 15 years.

It's early days, but as Deadline reports there's a completed script from Bruce Feirstein -- writer on several Pierce Brosnan "James Bond" films, producer on Chinese dramas "Red River" and "Hutong Days" -- and backing from producer Janet Yang ("The People vs. Larry Flint," "Kingdom Hospital," "Disney High School Musical: China" and "Shanghai Calling").

Ma's company, built primarily around online shopping and trading, makes more money than eBay and Amazon together and maintains additional interests in film production, online video and TV, ticket sales, cloud computing and crowdfunding.

The Feirstein and Yang plan is to create an international co-production, with location shoots in both China and the USA.
