BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi booked for beating police horse

Dehradun, Mar. 14 (ANI): The Dehradun Police on Monday registered a case against Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Mussoorie Ganesh Joshi for beating a police horse, reportedly breaking one of its legs, during a protest against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Monday for "misuse" of funds. "Some people attacked the horse, and it suffered multiple fractures. The horse is currently undergoing treatment. We will investigate as per section 429 of the Indian Penal Code. In the video footage, it is clearly visible that the horse was attacked by the MLA. A case is being registered against the BJP MLA (Ganesh Joshi) and some others," Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Date told ANI. "The doctors said that the horse's leg may be amputated. The horse may be given other treatments as well. We are taking opinions of other doctors also. We are trying to give him the best treatment," he added. Meanwhile, Dehradun Chief Veterinary officer Dr. R.S. Negi, told ANI that first aid and mobilisation devices have been used for the horse, adding that his condition is not serious, but if he gets septicaemia in future, it can cause problems. "Our two-three teams are here. Necessary treatment has been given, there is some relief. The Chief Minister has given orders to call experts. The team will arrive tomorrow. X rays will be done. It is a well-trained horse cross breed horse," he added. Rawat directed Date to seek additional assistance if needed from Tamil Nadu hospitals for the horse's treatment. He said all the expenses for the treatment of the horse will be borne by the state government. Earlier, in a violent protest by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Dehradun against Harish Rawat, BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi attacked a police horse deployed to disperse the protesters. The protest took a violent turn when, in a bid to dismount the rider, the protesters charged at the horse with sticks and broke the horse's leg. Joshi was seen in the video attacking the horse at its legs and the other agitators supporting him in the effort. As a result of this violent abuse from the politicians, the horse was badly injured and was then carried to a vet hospital in a truck. (ANI)
