Strictly odds: Who is most likely to get eliminated in Blackpool?
Another celeb will get their marching orders this weekend
Angela Rippon could be set for her last twirl around the Strictly dancefloor, with the star firm favourite to be eliminated this weekend.
The newsreader and her pro partner Kai Widdrington have faced the dreaded dance-off in the BBC contest for the past two weeks, avoiding the boot last Sunday (12 November) when the judges sent Krishnan Guru-Murthy home instead.
However, according to bookmaker William Hill, she is the overwhelming favourite to go after this weekend’s Blackpool show.
Rippon is 1/3 to depart – the shortest price any contestant has been to be voted off since the series started – after her two consecutive weeks in the bottom two.
If she does escape elimination, Annabel Croft could be next on the chopping block.
The tennis ace has odds of 3/1 to go.
Strictly next elimination odds:
Angela Rippon - 1/3
Annabel Croft - 3/1
Angela Scanlon - 7/1
Bobby Brazier - 16/1
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Angela Rippon has already had her share of close shaves in the ballroom after spending the past fortnight in the bottom two, but our market suggests it may finally be time for the presenter to face the music.
“Angela is 1/3 with us to depart Strictly this weekend – the lowest price we’ve had on any contestant to leave the show since the season commenced – making her the overwhelming favourite to be the eighth casualty of the series.
“Annabel Croft likewise failed to impress last week and is the second favourite at 3/1 to be eliminated on Sunday, with Angela Scanlon third on the list at 7/1.”
What happened on Strictly last week?
Last week, many Strictly viewers were unimpressed when Guru-Murthy received his marching orders instead of Rippon.
The pair had faced off in the dance-off, with Guru-Murthy giving Shirley Ballas and co another look at his Samba and Rippon performing her Paso Doble to Madonna’s Hung Up.
Ballas said she would have saved Guru-Murthy but with fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke backing Rippon, she got to stay in the competition.
Afterwards many fans posted message on social media suggesting the judges made the wrong decision.
"Disappointed in that result," one said on X.
Another said it was Rippon’s “time to go”.
“Personally I think Angela Rippon’s time had come,” said someone else.
