Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard set to move into $34 million Malibu mansion in US

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is set to move into a luxurious £16.8m (S$34 million) mansion with an ocean view when he joins MLS side LA Galaxy in the summer.

The enormous pad has been offered to the 34-year-old midfielder by his new football club, who will foot the weekly £13,516 ($27,400) rent.

With six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, the swanky property also boasts sweeping mountain and Pacific Ocean views.

Located in the stunning area of Carbon Canyon in Malibu, and 15 minutes away from Santa Monica beach, the Gerrard family will undoubtedly settle well into their new home.

There is a sizable barbecue area and a garage big enough for three cars, housed in a private orchard of citrus and avocado trees.

The amenities also include separate exercise, massage and sauna areas inside, and a magnificent infinity pool outside.

The stylish home also includes a screening room to show movies and a classic ‘sports room’, with a full-sized billiards table and bar.

A senior LA Galaxy official confirmed, “The club is helping Steven and Alex with every imaginable aspect of their family move and we are obviously hoping to get them settled as soon as possible.”

The family will reside in their fancy new home for 18 months while he plays out his contract with the team.

Gerrard, along with his model wife Alex, 32, and their daughters Lilly-Ella, 10, Lexie, eight, and Lourdes, three, are said to be building a £3million five-bedroom house on a two-acre site in an upscale area in Merseyside right now.

The sportsman’s long and illustrious career with Liverpool comes to an end in late May, after he turned down the offer of a contract extension to stay at Anfield.

He follows in the footsteps of English football icon David Beckham, who left Real Madrid to join LA Galaxy in 2007 and moved his entire family out to Los Angeles for the job.

Beckham’s move to the States was particularly beneficial for his wife, Victoria Beckham, who set up her successful fashion line there.

“Football is my life and will continue to be for a couple of years. I’m not going over there for a holiday or to enjoy myself. I’m going over there to win, and if I win and play well, then my life becomes more enjoyable,” said Gerrard.

He added that the bustling city of Los Angeles had also played a huge part in his decision to move there.

“There’s obviously a bonus of where the LA Galaxy are located as well. That will be nice for my family to come out of our comfort zone and try something different,” he said.

BARCELONA STAR NEYMAR PARTIES IN LONDON

Barcelona forward Neymar was spotted on a night out in London last Sunday after featuring in Brazil’s 1-0 win over Chile.

The 23-year-old star posed for pictures with fans while clutching a can of energy drink before heading into the popular nightspot while Chelsea star Willian was accompanied by his wife Vanessa Martins.

Prior to that, he was pictured enjoying a meal at the Novikov restaurant before heading to Kensington club Boujis. Black Eyed Peas star apl.de.ap also joined the players shortly after.

Earlier on Sunday, Neymar hit out at the ‘UFC’ style bully-boy tactics deployed by Chile during his side’s 1-0 friendly victory at the Emirates on Sunday.

He was lucky to escape injury following a nasty tackle from Chile midfielder Gary Medel.

“This wasn’t a game of football. It’s meant to be football not UFC. The referee is there to stop these things from happening, but there were four referees and none of them saw anything. It seems we have to suffer. I am a sufferer,” said Neymar.

A Roberto Firmino goal was enough to seal victory for Dunga’s side, who have now won eight games in a row since their disappointing World Cup exit.
