I don’t court trouble but get the most controversy: Fiona Xie

Former local TV actress Fiona Xie says it's fate that she receives so much controversy despite not courting trouble.

Even in the midst of continued speculation of her leaving the local entertainment scene in 2009 for Hong Kong, and some negative reception from netizens at her recent homecoming, the 29-year-old remains high-spirited.

"Doing what I want to do", she embraces her decisions, even 'ridiculous' ones. Desiring respect and fairness, she likens negativity to acid, learning not to let it 'corrode' her.

Speaking to Yahoo! Singapore at the New Moments of City Chain's Ion Orchard launch on Tuesday, Xie concludes that she is contented to keep going for her supporters.

Illustrating with analogies of motherhood, she says it is like "your boss and colleagues all hate you but you go home because mummy always loves you."

Xie also unveiled the shroud of mystery surrounding the identity of her mysterious partner, confirming him to be Luke Fehon.

According to local media reports, Fehon is said to be three years her junior, whom had studied at Sydney's St Aloysius College, an independent all-boys Catholic school.

He is also reported to bear a strong resemblance to Hong Kong star Edison Chen, and the son of a wealthy retired banker, Christopher Fehon.

Although acknowledging their relationship, Xie declined to confirm Fehon's background, and remained tight-lipped, echoing her disappointment at how a tabloid had invaded their private lives. "Not necessary. I am protecting my friends for their benefit."

Xie also declined to elaborate on whether her 'happy-but-no-marriage-plans' comment made just a month earlier still stands, merely stating that "I embrace extremes. To be a good wife and mother, I don't need to get married."

"Marriage is sacred and I am taking my time. I'm waiting to find my perfect match. There's only that one person."

"I hope that person accepts and loves me for who I am. I like to think my future husband would be proud of me, having made it in this industry."

Xie adopted a thoughtful demeanour at the City Chain event, remarking that it was "nice" to see Qi Yuwu, one of her co-stars in the 2001 TV comedy series My Genie and that the watch shop's name - New Moments - echoes her current situation.

While stopping short at promising a comeback, she still meets supportive entertainment insiders at events like hairstylist David Gan's show and 8 Days' Shirtless Guys Contest, leaving her grateful and happy.

"I am discussing and choosing projects carefully," she revealed.

"I am open to anything. I am doing commodities, produced for Polish photographer Tomasz Gudzowaty so I am considering active roles compared to acting which has been passive."
