Almost every country has its own version of Chinatown. But did you know that the oldest Chinatown in the world is in the Philippines?

Binondo may not be the cleanest or most peaceful place but a visit will surely be awesome. Chinatown is a complete delight in you eyes, palate and pocket.

Aside from its history, you can get cheap goods from shops selling different array of Chinese items and goods ranging from fruits to the famous Chinese lucky charms.

You can just walk around and try different food along the street like tikoy, candies, fried siopao and more. Restaurants line the streets so all you have to do is choose.

If budget is your main consideration, the restaurants in Binondo cater to all budgets, from high end restaurants to the famous estero fastfoods.

Another landmark in the area is the Binondo Chruch also known as Minor Basilica of St. Lorenzo Ruiz. You may chance upon Chinese-Catholic weddings when you visit.

It’s best to go around by walking, especially if you want to fill your belly, but you can also opt to tour Binondo by padyak or kalesa.

To get to Binondo, you can either take the LRT and alight at the Carriedo Station or take jeepneys going to Divisoria and Sta. Cruz.
