BMW announces upcoming bill for its Tate Live Performance Room

A brother and sister dancing together from two different cities over Skype are set to be the latest performance commission for the BMW Tate Live Performance Room this fall.

Contemporary dancers Selma and Sofiane Ouissi will respond to each other's movements via webcam in order to dance together with Selma located in Paris and Sofiane dancing in London.

The Ouissis have danced together throughout their careers, appearing in venues such as the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and Tanzquartier in Vienna.

Digital artist Yacine Sebti, who will create additional visual imagery, will join the pair and the performance will be broadcast live on Tate's YouTube channel.

Award-winning artist and choreographer Alexandra Bachzetsis will also be presenting two new online performance commissions as part of the BMW Tate Live Performance Room program, exploring how physical gestures can represent and create identity.

The performance moves through imaginary places and events from a ballet classroom to an online dance tutorial, exploring how our bodies incorporate skills, translate movements and inform our identities.

The BMW Tate Live Performance Room is a collaboration between the UK gallery group Tate and the global motor brand.

The program of live performances is commissioned exclusively for online viewing and simultaneously seen by international audiences across world time zones via Tate's YouTube channel, youtube.com/user/tate/tatelive.

It offers international audiences an opportunity to experience entirely new works live and to join a discussion about the work online, with spectators encouraged to chat with other viewers via social media channels during and after the performances.

Selma and Sofiane Ouissi will perform on September 18 at 8pm UK time, while Alexandra Bachzetsis will perform on October 23 at 8pm local time.
