Bobby Moynihan Shares Why Watching “Inside Out 2 ”as a Girl Dad 'Hit Me Like a Ton of Bricks' (Exclusive)

When speaking to PEOPLE at the Inside Out 2 premiere at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, June 10, the Saturday Night Live alum, 47, shared that the first film in the franchise altered his perception of mental health and the emotions of his young daughters.
“I was in the first one and I was so excited for that. But then I wasn't expecting it to change my perspective on mental health as well,” Moynihan tells PEOPLE. “And now having two daughters and having one here tonight. It's a whole new set of emotions and it's like a guidebook.”

As for if Moynihan relates to the dad in the film, the comedian shares, “Oh my gosh. That just hit me like a ton of bricks. Because yeah.”
“Thank you for ruining this movie for me forever,” he jokes. “Now I'm going to relate to the dad the entire time. Oh my gosh. That's crazy. I was always like, I'm the little kid. I'm the anger too. I’m Riley. No, I’m the dad now. Crazy. Thank you. I'm going to go call my therapist.”

“Everything," he tells PEOPLE. "Everything about it. Seeing the joy, seeing her face tonight of just how happy she's to see everybody."

The comedian announced that he and his wife were expecting in a cute Instagram post in June of that year, where Moynihan cleverly alluded to the fact that a baby was on the way.
Sharing an image of actress Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Moynihan also paid tribute to the critically acclaimed director Patty Jenkins in his post with the question, “How soon do you think is appropriate to show my daughter @WonderWomanFilm?” Moynihan also revealed that his own little “wonder woman” would make her debut that July.
