A day after a missing pregnant teen and her boyfriend were believed by police to have been found dead in a car in San Antonio, police announced each suffered a gunshot wound, according to multiple reports.

“There are two people in the car... They are deceased,” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said at a Tuesday night press conference, saying that the authorities believe the bodies belong to Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, CBS News reported.

McManus reportedly called the scene “perplexing.”

On Wednesday, the police department said both victims had suffered a gunshot wound, according to reports from the San Antonio Express-News and KSAT, and added that an unborn child was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Soto was reported missing Friday after she missed an appointment to induce her labor, reported  KENS5 and NBC News.

Police said Tuesday night that they are investigating the incident as a possible murder.

The bodies were found in a Kia Optima owned by Guerra, police said, and that they could have been dead for up to four days.

“She had everything ready for her little boy,” Soto’s mother told KENS5 before the body was discovered, and that Soto “was thrilled and excited about being a mom."
