Authorities in Ohio say the body of a young boy who was swept away has been recovered days after he was swept away by a rip current in Lake Erie.

"Hunter has been recovered," the Conneaut Police Department said in a statement on Facebook on Tuesday, June 11. "He has been transported from the scene to the Cleveland Medical [Examiner's] office for examination. Please keep Hunter's family in your thoughts and prayers."

PEOPLE has reached out to police for comment.

The boy, who has been identified only by his first name, was visiting Conneaut Township Park with his mother and a friend on June 7 when he was carried away by the rip current, according to Fox affiliate WJW. Crews had been searching for him ever since.
