Bomb relic found at Geylang construction site

An old World War II bomb relic has been found at a construction site at the junction of Lorong 22 Geylang and Guillemard road.

According the Singapore Police Force’s spokesperson, a war relic was found at 12.40pm and officers have cordoned the affected area.

An eyewitness told Yahoo! Singapore that around 4pm, the bomb disposal unit arrived and passers-by were told to move far away.

“Residents at the nearby HDB block 56 near to the hotel were told to close all their windows,” said the eyewitness.

The roads Lorong 22 Geylang and Guillemard road, between Mountbatten road and Cassia Crescent has been closed. The road blocks have been lifted at 6.20pm, according to the SPF.

A similar incident happened two months ago when a World War II bomb was found at The Cape condo worksite at Amber Road.
