Bonnie Loo says ex still owes her six-figure sum, was living with 'soulmate' female friend when they were dating

The Singapore actress admitted she was 'stupid' as there were many 'warning signs' when she was in the relationship.

Is love blind? For local actress Bonnie Loo, it seems like she didn’t notice some signs in her previous relationship.

Speaking to 8world, Loo, 29, opened up about her boyfriend of two years, whom she broke up with earlier this year.

Her ex was someone outside of showbiz and he spent a year wooing her before she agreed to date him. The duo were keeping their relationship lowkey, but as her ex had many friends in showbiz, her colleagues, friends, and family were aware of it.

Loo shared that her ex was very close to a female friend, who is working in the industry, and discovered that while they were dating, he had been cohabiting with her for a while.

“It was a little triggering for me because I only found out about this through my friends. They would ask me if I was kept in the dark, or if I was lied to,” she said.

During an interview on Just Swipe Lah, Loo further revealed that she followed the woman on Instagram and instinctually knew that she was living in her ex’s condo after seeing some of her photos.

However, her ex denied it after she jokingly asked him about it.

Her friend then did some internet sleuthing to find photos of the condos in his residence, and it matched what was in the woman’s photos.

Then, her ex sold his house and eventually told Loo that he was going to live with the woman because she was renting him a room for cheap.

Loo also found out, through her ex’s mum, that he had been sharing a room with the woman, instead of just being housemates.

In addition, when the ex was meeting his friends, he would sometimes tell Loo that it wasn’t convenient for her to attend, but the female friend would be present instead.

There were 'warning signs'

Feeling uncomfortable with the situation, Loo attempted to talk things through with the two of them as she admitted that she could have misunderstood the relationship.

Both the ex and his female friend said they were “platonic friends” but also “soulmates”.

Loo told 8world, “They said they were ‘soulmates’, then he shouldn’t have been with me in the first place. They can just be together. Why do you need another girlfriend by your side? And if the female friend wanted him to herself, why not be with him?”

She added, “I admit I was stupid. My friends all said I was foolish because there were already many ‘warning signs’, but I never really noticed them. Maybe I don’t have enough relationship experience.”

As for the reason why she’s coming clean on this, Loo explained that she wanted to clear her name as she has been mistaken for being the “third party” between her ex and the female friend.

“The two of them have always been very secretive and have never admitted their relationship. But I have openly said in front of friends that we are together. I want their friends to know the entire situation and that I didn’t come between them.”

Still owed money

While Loo has broken things off with him, she shared on Just Swipe Lah that he still owes her a six-figure sum, and that needs to be settled before she can completely cut things off.

The ex claimed that he was facing difficulty with his business, and as Loo thought she was going to spend her life with him, she loaned him money.

He was supposed to return the money in November, but he delayed the payment, and Loo hopes it can be settled by this year.

After this experience, Loo has learnt not to doubt her abilities and her gut feel.

“When you really like someone, you tend to blind yourself as you want to make a stable relationship with him,” she said.
