Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh has made a legal bid to drop her father’s surname amid the ongonig feud between her divorced parents.
Shiloh filed the court papers on her 18th birthday this week, asking to change her surname from ‘Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’ to simply ‘Shiloh Jolie’.
The move is the latest indication of the distant relationship between Pitt and his children since splitting from Jolie eight years ago.
It was a bitter divorce battle, which included a feud over access to the children, allegations about Pitt’s drinking and behaviour, and a dispute over the former couple’s vineyard in France.
Shiloh, who is forging a career as a dancer, is following in the footsteps of older sister Zahara who has also ditched the Pitt name. Vivienne, 15, is also reportedly referring to herself as a ‘Jolie’.
Pitt and Jolie, who got together on the set of film Mr and Mrs Smith, had a 10-year romance which came to an end in 2016.
They share biological children Shiloh as well as twins Knox and Vivienne, 15, and three adopted children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20 and also Zahara, 19.
The children have all remained close to Jolie since the breakdown of the marriage, while Pitt reportedly had “limited” access.
The divorce was finalised in 2019, but a dispute over the vineyard, Chateau Miraval, where they got married continues to rumble on in the courts.
The couple bought the wine-making business in Province together in 2008, but after the split Jolie sold her share to a Russian oligarch.
She accused Pitt of wasting money on vanity upgrades to the vineyard and sold her share without telling Pitt – in a move he says broke an agreement that he would have first refusal on any sale.
A judge has now reversed Jolie’s decision to sell-up, and final decisions over control of the business will now be made by a court.
