Brazil's ex-president Lula says he will surrender to police

SAO BERNARDO DO CAMPO, Brazil (Reuters) - Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Saturday said he would surrender to authorities, a day after refusing a judge's order to start serving a prison sentence for corruption that derails his effort to return to power this year.

In his first speech since the order was issued on Thursday, Lula said that he was innocent and being targeted in order to prevent him from running in the October presidential election.
