Brian Low: Murderer remains at large as detectives believe answer 'lies within community'
The killer of a dog walker remains at large and detectives have said they believe the answer to cracking the case "lies within the local community".
Brian Low, 65, was fatally shot while walking his black Labrador on a remote track in the Pitilie area on the outskirts of Aberfeldy at around 8.30am on Saturday 17 February.
His dog was found safe and well by his side.
Mr Low's death was initially treated as non-suspicious and medical-related until concerns were raised days later.
A two-doctor post-mortem examination eventually took place on Friday 23 February, which confirmed he had been shot.
A murder investigation was subsequently launched, with Mr Low's family notified the following day.
In a press conference last month, a detective investigating the murder admitted that evidence may have been lost because of the delay.
In an update on Tuesday, Police Scotland said officers spoke to 145 people in the space of two hours on Saturday as part of the probe.
The Major Investigation Team stopped 118 vehicles and 18 pedestrians on the remote path, in the town centre and on the A827 north of Aberfeldy.
'Somebody knows something'
Detective Superintendent Lorna Ferguson believes the answer "lies within the local community".
She said: "Extensive enquiries into Brian's death are continuing and I would urgently appeal to anyone with information who has not already spoken with us to please do so.
"We have carried out a number of additional lines of enquiry in the last few days and it's important we remain open-minded about a possible motive in this case.
"Incidents like this are thankfully extremely rare and we understand the significant impact this has had on the people of Aberfeldy.
"We are confident the answer to this investigation lies within the local community. Somebody knows something.
"Even if you feel the information you hold is not important, we would still ask you to contact us. It could be crucial to getting the answers we need for Brian's family."
Those in the surrounding area with dashcam, private CCTV or doorbell footage from around the time of Mr Low's death are being urged to speak to the inquiry team.
Police patrols and door-to-door enquires remain ongoing in the area as the investigation continues.
An online portal has been set up for members of the public to submit information about the case to police.

"They are still being supported by specialist officers and wish their privacy to be respected.
"It's absolutely vital we find who did this, and we need the ongoing support of the public as our enquiries continue.
