Channel 4 has shared a first-look photo from Big Mood, an upcoming comedy series starring Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan and It's a Sin's Lydia West.

Written and created by Camilla Whitehill, the six-part series will follow Maggie (Coughlan) and Eddie (West), whose decade-long friendship is put to the test after a series of chaotic events.

With the two at a crossroads in their life and Maggie's bipolar disorder making an unwelcome return, Eddie begins to wonder if their friendship is truly in their best interests.

The new still sees Maggie and Eddie strutting through what appears to be a school corridor, each clad in mismatched coats and a pair of sunglasses.

The full cast list who appear alongside the leading duo has also been announced, including Niamh Cusack (The Virtues), Eamon Farren (The Witcher), Luke Fetherston (Flowers in the Attic: The Origin) and Kate Fleetwood (Wheel of Time).

Rob Gilbert (Big Boys), Rebecca Lowman (Prime Suspect), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones's Diary), Ukweli Roach (Wolf) and Amalia Vitale (Willow) will also star, while Gavin and Stacey's Joanna Page will make a guest appearance as herself.

Previously when speaking about the new series, Coughlan explained how Big Mood is partly inspired by her friendship with Whitehall.

"We met like a million years ago at drama school in Oxford. She was training to be an actor. And then when we left drama school, we were both in various states of not working and everything being a bit crap. And she was like, 'I’m not gonna be an actor, I want to write'," she said.

"I went to see her first short play night and she was just – she’s always been insanely funny. But then, when I saw it, I was like, 'Oh, she’s gonna be a famous writer'."

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix. Season 3 is in production. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is due to premiere on May 4, 2023.
