Lord John Stirling and Francesca Bridgerton’s love story is just getting started on Bridgerton.

Victor Alli — who plays John Stirling on the hit Netflix series — tells PEOPLE what’s next for the couple after they tied the knot and announced their plans to move to Scotland, where they will be joined by her sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and his cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza), in the season 3 finale.

“I think we just want to be away from it all, and that's why we go so far away and I guess we want to start a family,” he shares. “And I think that's next on the cards. And I guess we have the company of Eloise and my cousin. And so that's really exciting because we have a nice party.”

He calls the fact that the couple will be traveling with their family members “really, really fun,” adding, “But I think ultimately we just want to start a family and spend more time together in Scotland. So I think that's what they might see, what the audience might see next.”

In the second part of Bridgerton season 3, fans were introduced to Michaela, who doesn’t appear in the Julia Quinn novels. However, John does have a cousin named Michael, who pursues and later marries Francesca following her first husband’s death in the novel, When He Was Wicked.

When asked how he felt about the introduction of the character, Alli shares, “Oh. I was like, ‘Yo, that's really cool.’ Because I was told that they're going to switch up a bit before we did any of that filming. And it was quite nice. It was really pleasant to sort of read that introduction.”

“It was such a nice introduction, I think,” he adds. “I don't think they could have done it in any other way. So yeah, I'm really glad and I was really excited.”

As for how Francesca will navigate the loss of her husband, Alli says, “It's going to be quite tough. Someone who she loved or still loves maybe, is gone. That's tough.”

“And she becomes a widow really early on, and it's going to be so hard,” he continues. “We've never seen anything like that for any of the siblings, any of the Bridgerton siblings. So yeah, it's going to be so hard. And I don't know how she's going to handle that. I don't know what she's going to go through or the challenges she may face, but my hope is that she is able to get through.”
