Channel 4 has released more images of Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan in new drama Big Mood, also starring Lydia West.

Premiering next year, the six-episode drama follows two ride-or-die best friends Maggie (Coughlan) and Eddie (West), as they navigate their relationship now their twenties are behind them.

Created by Camilla Whitehill, Big Mood offers a fresh portrait of female friendship through career hardships and mental health struggles, with Maggie's bipolar disorder making a comeback that prompts Eddie to question their bond.

The newly-released images give viewers a sneak peek at Maggie and Eddie's years-spanning friendship, including photos of them attending a fancy dress costume party and hugging as they walk down the street.

Alongside the Derry Girls and It's a Sin stars, Big Mood also features Niamh Cusack (The Virtues), Eamon Farren (The Witcher), Luke Fetherston (Flowers in the Attic: The Origin) and Kate Fleetwood (The Wheel of Time), with Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones's Diary) also starring.

The cast is rounded out by Rob Gilbert (Big Boys), Rebecca Lowman (Prime Suspect), Ukweli Roach (Wolf) and Amalia Vitale (Willow), while Gavin and Stacey's Joanna Page is set to make a guest appearance as herself.

Directed by Rebecca Asher (Dead to Me, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the series is partly inspired by Coughlan's friendship with Whitehill. Coughlan has previously revealed the two met at drama school in Oxford, and have been friends since.

"When we left drama school, we were both in various states of not working and everything being a bit crap. And she was like, 'I'm not gonna be an actor, I want to write'," Coughlan told Variety in February.

"I went to see her first short play night and she was just – she's always been insanely funny. But then, when I saw it, I was like, 'Oh, she's gonna be a famous writer'."

Big Mood will be available to watch and stream on Channel 4 in 2024.
