Britain's Got Talent is back on fans' screens, and after a talent-bursting premiere episode (April 15) the show's creator and panellist Simon Cowell has said that this series will shake up the Golden Buzzer moments.

Series 16 opened with an episode full of dancing, farting and singing, as well as it being the debut show for ex-Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli, who has stepped in this series to replace David Walliams on the ITV show.

Tonioli made himself at home during the first outing of the new season and used his Golden Buzzer in the first episode, but viewers should know that more Golden Buzzer surprises are coming this season.

Talent show mogul Cowell has teased that the studio audience will get more say this series, revealing to Digital Spy that there were eight Golden Buzzers this series. This shakes things up from the usual one-button press for the four panellists and hosts Ant and Dec.

"I don't want to give too much away," he said. "[But] there is one Golden Buzzer moment – it wasn't really supposed to happen because we'd run out and it was kind of chaotic at this moment because the audience really did not let this go.

"I thought, they're not going to leave. So, we kind of said: 'Why don't we just give the audience a golden buzzer?' and that's what happened."

Dancer and judge Tonioli was moved by the performance from the children's dance troupe Ghetto Kids from Uganda on the first episode and, not entirely understanding the Golden Buzzer rules, pressed the button as the team were mid-performance.

The panel looked on in shock at the Italian judge as the troupe continued to dance as the golden confetti rained down on them.

Tonioli told Digital Spy: "I just had to do it. They were absolutely amazing."

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
