Broadway Finds Its ‘Tommy’: Ali Louis Bourzgui To Reprise Chicago Performance In The Who Musical
Ali Louis Bourzgui will reprise his acclaimed performance as the title character in The Who’s Tommy when the musical moves from Chicago to Broadway this spring.
The casting was announced today by producers Stephen Gabriel and Ira Pittelman. Preview performances of the reimagined musical will begin March 8, 2024, at the Nederlander Theatre ahead of a March 28 opening night.

The Broadway revival comes more than three decades after the musical’s 1993 original production. Tommy, based on the classic 1969 album, features music and lyrics by the band’s Pete Townshend, and a book by Townshend and Des McAnuff, who directs.
Bourzgui received critical plaudits when the Chicago staging premiered at the Goodman Theatre last summer, winning the city’s Jeff Award for the performance. He is currently appearing as Paul in the North American tour of Company.
In the original 1993 production, Michael Cerveris gave a career-making performance in the show’s title role
