Broadway Malyan ventures into Vietnam

Broadway Malyan, a global architecture, urbanism and design firm, has made its maiden foray into Vietnam to design and support the delivery of the World Trade Centre Danang, on behalf of VinaCapital Commercial Centre Ltd.

Broadway Malyan will provide architectural, graphic and landscape design services for the project, which is poised to be the first shopping centre in Vietnam to feature a department store.

With a net lettable area (NLA) of 46,600 sq m, the retail project is located on a high-profile site opposite the Han River and is expected to become a major mixed-use real estate scheme in Danang. It will also serve as a catalyst to boost new developments on the west bank of the River.

Groundbreaking for the nine ha scheme was done in early 2008, with the luxury 32-storey and 225-apartment Azura tower (pictured), the tallest condominium tower in central Danang.

Meanwhile, the hotel, retail, commercial and residential components are underway.

"This high-profile retail project and our role on the wider scheme is drawing on the diverse skills, expertise and experience of our world-class design experts and through our distinctive approach to client partnering we will help deliver a fully integrated, sustainable and successful scheme," said Jochum Ledgister, Associate Director at Broadway Malyan.

Broadway Malyan expects its Vietnam venture to leverage on the long-term growth forecasted for the country as well as the increasing investment in the region through the growing economic partnerships between ASEAN members.
