Broadway’s ‘Tommy’ Crowns Its Acid Queen And Casts The Pinball Wizard’s Family
The original Chicago cast of the newly reimagined The Who’s Tommy will join star Ali Louis Bourzgui when the musical revival opens on Broadway in March.

Producers Stephen Gabriel and Ira Pittelman announced full principal casting today, with Chicago’s Goodman Theatre line-up heading to New York. Alison Luff will play Tommy’s mom Mrs. Walker, Adam Jacobs will portray Captain Walker, with John Ambrosino as Uncle Ernie and Bobby Conte as Cousin Kevin. Christina Sajous reprises her Acid Queen.
Preview performances will begin March 8 at the Nederlander Theatre, with opening night set for March 28.
The musical, which originally opened on Broadway in 1993, features Pete Townshend’s music and lyrics and Des McAnuff’s direction. The two co-wrote the book, and reunited for the latest reimagining.
Additional casting will be announced soon.
The Goodman production recently won nine of the city’s Joseph Jefferson “Jeff” Awards, the most for any show this season, including Best Director for McAnuff and Best Production.
The Broadway production’s creative team includes choreography by Lorin Latarro, music supervision and additional arrangements by Ron Melrose, musical direction and additional orchestrations by Rick Fox, set design by David Korins, projection design by Peter Nigrini, costume design by Sarafina Bush, lighting design by Amanda Zieve, sound design by Gareth Owen, and wig and hair design by Charles LaPointe.
The musical features songs from The Who’s groundbreaking 1969 rock opera, including “I’m Free,” “See Me, Feel Me,” “Sensation” and “Pinball Wizard.”
