Bruce Springsteen Pic ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ Adds Paul Walter Hauser To Ensemble Cast
EXCLUSIVE: The upcoming Bruce Springsteen movie Deliver Me From Nowhere is continuing to add to its ensemble cast, as sources tell Deadline that Paul Walter Hauser is in negotiations to join movie. While not confirmed, sources say he will play longtime guitar tech Mike Batlan in the 20th Century Studios movie.
Jeremy Allen White is set to play Springsteen and Scott Cooper is directing the biopic, which tells the story of the making of the classic Springsteen album Nebraska.

In April, the studio closed a deal to finance and distribute the pic, which follows the rock ‘n’ roll icon who, after grappling with personal demons and trying to wrap his arms around becoming a global superstar, wrote and recorded Nebraska, the 1982 album that rivals Joni Mitchell’s Blue as one of the most emotionally raw, dark and honest albums in recent music history.
Scott Stuber, in his first move since exiting as longtime Netflix Film head, is producing with Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson.
Batlan was the tech in Springsteen’s early days who built a recording studio in the bedroom of the rock star’s Colts Neck, NJ, apartment. He would eventually become one of Springsteen’s main tour tech guys in the 1970s and early ’80s.
As for Hauser, since winning the Emmy for his performance in the Apple TV+ limited series Black Bird, he has been busy setting up that future slate starting with playing Chris Farley in the new biopic The Chris Farley Show. That package, which has him starring and Josh Gad directing, sold to New Line earlier this year in a monster deal that lines up Hauser for another possible award-season run. He also recently landed a secret role in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four movie.
