:: "At least 15-20 people living inside the building were laborers, the building collapsed upon them. Some of them were inside the building while some were inside the shed near the building. The building has fallen on the shed as well."
A local police official told Reuters that rescuers were still looking for more people feared trapped.
On Tuesday, residents faced waterlogged roads, fallen trees and many cars floating in water after the downpour surpassed records for the highest rain in 24 hours in the past couple of decades.
Footage captured showed people being rescued in boats, carrying their belongings as they were taken to safe locations.
Bengaluru, once known as India's garden city, has been suffering from various issues from gridlocked traffic to poor civic facilities due to rapid urbanization, with the encroachment of the city's lakes blocking connecting canals.
