The baker at the centre of a row with former Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley has penned a special message for her supporters in the wake of 'Cake-gate'.

Earlier this week, Tyldesley (who played Eva Price up until 2018) was revealed as the celebrity whose PR agency was shamed after requesting free food for their client.

Three Little Birds bakery owner by Rebecca Severs revealed on social media that she had been asked to make free cakes for a celebrity's 40th birthday party in exchange for social media exposure and a plug in OK! Magazine.

"This poor celebrity apparently can't afford to pay people for their products and services. Spare a thought! What happened to women supporting women..." wrote the cake specialist on Facebook last week, alongside screenshots of the original email.

Stunned to see the subsequent controversy spreading across the news sites, Tyldesley herself came forward with an Instagram video recorded in her car on Wednesday, suggesting she knew nothing about the catering enquiry while accusing business owner Severs of craving attention.

"I genuinely do hope the bakery have got some exposure and receive lots of new orders! I've always supported local and small businesses," wrote the TV star in the caption.

"The abuse I have been receiving online is horrendous so hopefully this will put an end to it."

Severs, whose Victorian shop offers a range of handmade cakes and macarons with ingredients sourced from ethical, local and sustainable suppliers, hasn't chosen to continue this war of words, but instead shared her appreciation for everyone that reached out to her with kindness.

Via the store's Instagram Stories, she wrote several hours after Tyldesley's clip landed: "I wish I had time to reply to all your amazing messages one by one. But I totally don't [laughing emoji].

"Please know that knowing how much solidarity is out there for small business is incredible and every message of support means a lot!!"

Interest in Three Little Birds is likely to ramp up due to the high-profile bust-up, and judging by its many customer reviews, it'll be well placed.

"Your macarons are honestly the best ones I have ever had, and I used to live in France... you have perfected them!" commented one person.

"I popped into 3 Little Birds Bakery with a friend and we both fell in love. The cupcakes were so fluffy and light while being full of flavour," one customer wrote, while another added: "I have purchased treat boxes several times, both for our family and as gifts and they have been both stunning and delicious. It is obvious that Bec and her team put a lot of care in to their work."
