:: Ronal Cruz-Lopez, Inmate, high school graduate

"I took this opportunity and I did it. I'm just one of the other guys that graduated, and hopefully I can go beyond this and this is just one other step to my future and I could use this to boost my confidence and keep on giving my parents more joy after I'm out of here, not just in here you know."

:: Nyil Jones, Inmate, high school graduate

"I feel good, like I'm proud of myself. Like I feel like I accomplished something today. I feel like this happened for a reason, I came to jail for a reason, so I could complete school because if I was outside I probably would've never thought about going back to school."

More than 4,000 incarcerated people at San Francisco County Jail have graduated from the Five Keys Charter School in its 21 years of operation. The program is currently offered in 25 other county jails in the state, serving more than 30,000 incarcerated Californians.
