Calista Flockhart to return to TV

The former "Ally McBeal" star will appear in the second season of "Full Circle," the DirectTV original drama due to return in spring 2015.

Calista Flockhart, who became a 90s icon by playing the eccentric lawyer Ally McBeal from 1997 to 2002, has found her next TV role. She will take part in the second season of "Full Circle," a drama that explores human interaction and relationships through a revolving gallery of interconnected characters. Each episode is set in a single location and follows two different characters whose lives are intertwined in some way with those in the previous episode.

The next 10 episodes will focus on Jimmy Parerra, a Chicago policeman who blew the whistle on corruption in the department 18 years earlier, sending his father-in-law Bud O'Rourke to prison. Now a free man, Bud is preparing to seek revenge.

In the role of Ellen, the new face of the mob in Chicago, Flockhart will co-star with Terry O'Quinn ("Lost"), Eric McCormack ("Will & Grace," "Perception"), Chris Bauer ("True Blood"), Rita Wilson ("The Good Wife"), Stacy Keach ("Nebraska"), Brittany Snow ("Nip/Tuck"), Patrick Fugit ("Gone Girl") and David Koechner ("The Office").

The second season will soon begin shooting in Los Angeles and is slated to air on DirectTV's Audience Network in the spring. Aired in fall 2013, the first season grabbed headlines with its high-concept premise and its prestigious cast, which included David Boreanaz ("Bones"), Kate Walsh ("Private Practice") and Julian McMahon ("Nip/Tuck").
