Call the Midwife share exciting show update with behind-the-scenes photo
Call the Midwife has shared an exciting update regarding filming as they released a behind-the-scenes photo.
The BBC show aired its 13th series earlier this year, with work soon beginning on the upcoming Christmas special.
In a post on the show’s official Instagram account, it was confirmed that filming for the special had now been completed and that attention had now turned to the 14th series of the show, with the post showing creator Heidi Thomas posing for a photo alongside the Turner children.

“Behind the Scenes on the Call the Midwife Christmas Special: A special guest for breakfast ❤️” began the post. “Hello all! Today we can announce that filming for the Christmas Special has now been completed! From today, our intrepid team move on to filming for Series 14 🎥🎬 👶🚲👏🎉
“Towards the end of Christmas filming last week, the Turner children were delighted to be visited on set by none other than Heidi Thomas, our series writer and Executive Producer! (photo, second left)
“Heidi popped in to say hello to the cast and see how they all were. It's actually quite a rare thing, as Heidi's creative and production work is usually done far from the film set. So it's a special occasion for all concerned when it happens, and a wonderful chance to catch up xx
“Heidi particularly enjoys writing for the three young Turner children, so it was a real treat for her to see our young stars doing their thing at the breakfast table. She was, however, full of sympathy for the culinary sacrifices the children were making for their art...!

The post also included a note from Heidi herself, which read: “It was a pleasure to spend time on set with Alice, April and Ned. They manage to have lots of fun together, whilst being incredibly professional. I was also very impressed by their ability to eat bowl after bowl of soggy cornflakes without complaint!"
