Call the Midwife teases "all will be revealed" in special on-set snap
Call the Midwife has teased fans with a special on-set photo and a mysterious caption about their upcoming Christmas special.
The picture, featuring Georgie Glen as Miss Higgins, was posted on the official Call the Midwife Instagram account. "Behind the Scenes on the Call the Midwife Christmas Special: Sprouts!" the caption began.
The image saw Miss Higgins diligently peeling sprouts, while surrounded by bowls overflowing with the vegetable.

"Hello all! We've just got our hands on this photo from the set of the Call the Midwife Christmas Special, which comes to your screens this holiday season 2024! It's a wonderful behind-scenes portrait of our own Georgie Glen, as the redoubtable Miss Higgins," explained the caption, before pointing out the abundance of green.
"But we couldn't help noticing a great profusion of that most Christmas of British vegetables..... SPROUTS! Lots and lots of them!"
Continuing the mystery of what was happening in the scene, the post simply teased the importance of the sprouts within both British tradition and the episode.

"And yet it remains a centrepiece of the traditional British Christmas meal. And the more curious amongst you might wonder why there are quite so many spouts being prepared by Millicent here....
"All will be revealed! Call the Midwife will return with a new Christmas Special and Series 14 in 2025 xx"
Earlier this year, fans received a first look at the festive episode, with a sneak peek at the Turner family's Christmas decorations. It was confirmed that the Christmas special would take place in 1969, as the beloved characters reflect on the changing decade.
Once the mystery of the sprouts is revealed, fans can look forward to the fourteenth series of the medical drama which is already in the works.
Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
