Cannes festival palace turns into vaccine center

Opened on Saturday (January 9), the center that occupies part of the Palais des Festivals et des Congres vaccinates health workers and carers aged 50 and older, and those who are younger but who have comorbidity factors, said Dominique Aude-Lasset, deputy chief of services for the city of Cannes.

Aude-Lasset said the center could give the shot to around 100 people a day.

Before the COVID-19 era, the festival palace welcomed celebrities annually in spring for the Cannes Film Festival.

But last year, as France faced its first national lockdown, the festival's 2020 edition, in its usual format, was cancelled. At that time, the venue was converted into a shelter for homeless people.
