Carlo Ancelotti sends warning to rivals after Real Madrid win Champions League: 'We are never satisfied'

Carlo Ancelotti says his Real Madrid side are hungry for more success and do not have a “full belly”, despite being crowned European champions for a 15th time.

Real Madrid won the Champions League final on Saturday night by beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.

It continued the Spanish club’s stunning record in the competition, with their tally of 15 titles eight more than the next best team.

The win also made it six Champions League titles for Real Madrid in the past 10 years, but Ancelotti says they want more.

“There is no danger in that respect of us having a full belly, if you like,” he said.

“In this club, there is a continuous demand. We are never satisfied. We will have a fantastic day with our fans tomorrow.

“Then we will go to rest, my players will be at Euros and Copa America. We will comeback with the same eagerness and excitement as before.”

Madrid were made to work for their latest Champions League triumph and Ancelotti admitted Dortmund were the better team in the first-half.

The German side missed several chances to take the lead and Ancelotti revealed he turned the tide by switching from a 4-4-2 formation to a 4-3-3.

“Well I didn’t need to get angry [in the dressing room at half-time],” he said. “I needed to clarify a few things because it was pretty clear how Dortmund wanted to play.

“They had a fantastic game in transition and we lost our balance a little bit.

“We thought that changing the system would be better for us and concentrating more players in midfield.

“We bought [Federico] Valverde back to join [Eduardo] Camavinga and [Toni] Kroos, and I think it was better for us in the second-half.”

Kroos was one of the star performers for Madrid, signing off his club career in style with a sixth Champions League title.

“I am really grateful to him. He has finished at the very top,” said Ancelotti. “There is no way of finishing in a higher position than this.

“He had the balls to finish it. He is a legend in this club and all the Real Madrid fans are grateful to him for what he has done - not only for his game, but his attitude or professionalism. I said to him: ‘We are waiting, if you change your mind, we are still here’!”
