Celebrity MasterChef confirms first semi-finalists

Celebrity MasterChef has revealed its first semi-finalists for the 18th series, with four contestants battling it out for two places.
Last night's (August 3) episode saw an unexpected twist, with judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace opting to send the four remaining celebrities — Dani Dyer, Marcus Brigstocke, James Buckley and Mica Ven — through instead of eliminating a contestant.

Tonight's (August 4) instalment featured no such twist on the format, but there was still plenty of drama as the celebrities had to cook for a star-studded panel, which included former champions Danny Jones, Lisa Snowden and Angelica Bell.
After all the celebrities cooked two courses each, the judges decided to send Marcus and Mica through to the next round, meaning Dani and James's time in the kitchen was over.
James, who made his name as Jay Cartwright on The Inbetweeners, said of his departure: "I'm gutted. It's been a wild ride, and I'm honoured to have been a part of it."
Meanwhile, Dani said after her exit: "I definitely feel like I've walked in one person and come out another.
"It's been great. I'm proud of myself and I'm happy — it's been a really good time."

Mica and Marcus were ecstatic to have progressed, with Mica saying: "A semi-final place is fantastic. I don't [normally] compete like this."
"I couldn't be more chuffed," added Marcus. "I'm not doing any more work for a while. I'm just going to put my feet up. I tell you what — tonight has got 'takeaway' written all over it. I'm not cooking again for at least 48 hours."
The pair will be joined by two more celebrities from the next set of heats, which will get underway next week.
