Celine Dion may have a continued battle with Stiff Persons Syndrome ahead of her, but the silver lining throughout her treatment is that she doesn't feel entirely alone. The Grammy Award-winning singer finds comfort in her late husband René Angélil, and noted that his presence is with her when she attend doctor appointments.

"I'm still married to René. He's still my husband. When we have to travel to my treatments to see my doctors, I always bring pictures [of him]," she told People on June 12. "And we have pictures, of course, all over the place in the house."

Angélil died in 2016 after a personal health battle of his own—the music producer struggled with throat cancer when Dion was also succumbing to SPS symptoms, and the cancer ultimately claimed his life. Dion shares three children with Angelil—René-Charles, 23, and her 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson— who also maintain their father's presence.

"Even when they were very small, even when he was still with us in his bed [when he was] in his room struggling, he was with us still," she recalled. "[They would tell him], 'Dad, we're going to be watching Ratatouille tonight, so I hope you like it.' They were talking to him, and they kiss the pictures."

Dion's children even remind her to take Angelil with her any time she has an appointment. "My kids are always asking, 'Did you bring Papa's pictures?' And I'm like, 'Yes, I have Papa's pictures!'" she added. "He's their dad, and he's my husband, and he will always be."
