Chad Daybell has been sentenced to death for murdering 7-year-old Joshua "J.J." Vallow, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and his first wife, 49-year-old Tammy Daybell.

On Thursday, May 30, Chad was found guilty of six counts in connection with their deaths and two counts of insurance fraud.

The Ada County courts in Idaho revealed on Saturday, June 1, that a verdict had been reached by its sequestered jury, per CNN, before Judge Steven Boyce imposed the sentence following a recess.

ABC News reported that Chad did not show emotion when Boyce read the jury's verdict.

J.J. and Tylee were the children of Chad's second wife, Lori Vallow. Vallow was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in July 2023 for murdering her children and conspiracy to commit murder in Tammy's death.

Unlike Chad, she did not face the death penalty.

The jury in the murder trial took two days to come to their decision following the conviction.

CNN reported that the jury deliberated Chad's fate for 6 hours on Friday, before breaking for the night. They later deliberated again on Saturday morning, until the court made its announcement.

In a statement shared Saturday by the Tammy Douglas Daybell Foundation, the Douglas family thanked "law enforcement, the prosecution, the media" and those who "watched and listened to the trial and prayed for us."

After stating that they were "grateful for the relationships we have created through this horrible time and the support and love we were able to give each other," the family added that it was time to "start to heal from the terrible losses we have suffered."

"We will miss Tammy every single day of our lives but we have some comfort knowing we will see her again," the statement continued.

Chad was a doomsday author when he met Vallow in 2018. In September of 2019, J.J. and Tylee disappeared. The following month, on October 19, Tammy died at the home she shared with Chad.

Two weeks later on November 5, Lori and Chad married in Hawaii while J.J.'s grandparents reported the children missing.

Before wrapping this week, Chad's capital murder trial lasted nearly two months with testimony from witnesses, including Chad's two adult children, Emma Murray and Garth Daybell. (Chad was married to Tammy for nearly 30 years and had five children with her.)

Nearly nine months after J.J. and Tylee disappeared on June 9, 2020, their badly decomposed remains were found buried on Chad's Idaho property. Tylee had been dismembered and burned; J.J. was wrapped in plastic and bound by duct tape.

During Vallow's 2022 trial, a forensic pathologist revealed during testimony that J.J. was asphyxiated with a plastic bag and duct tape over his mouth, East Idaho NewsKTVB reporter Alexandra Duggan and Fox 10 reported at the time.

Tylee's cause of death was undetermined due to how badly her remains were burned, the outlets reported.

Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney Lindsey Blake also revealed during Lori's trial that Tammy's cause of death was asphyxiation. It was initially ruled accidental.

J.J.'s grandfather Larry Woodcock spoke after Chad's conviction during a press conference shared by KSL. "It's a sad day," he said. "J.J. would have been 12 years old, guys. For what?"

He also shared thoughts about Tylee and Tammy, before adding: "J.J., Papa loves you. J.J., I miss you."
